Firstly, referring to most engineering plastics, when turning you can go extremely quickly with your feeds and speeds. Examples of which are Acetal, Nylon, PTFE, ABS, PVC and so on. Most noteworthy, in most but not all cases, the chips stay together, forming a ribbon and are easily removed from your machine. Also, your tools won’t dull or wear (practically not at all). Standard high speed steel will be ample for turning every day engineering plastics. Whereas, Insulation industrial plastics require far more specialist care and techniques.
Next, it’s worth noting, you don’t need machining fluid. That is to say, the surface finishes obtained, feel and look great. Also, high standards of tolerance and finish are achieved. Also, tools that cut steel or aluminium will generally work very well with most plastics. So much so, in many cases, there are no special tooling requirements. Hence no added tool costs to pass on.

Also, as with turning, no coolants are required. Indeed, the use of coolants can be detrimental to many insulation materials.

A range of polyofins Engineering Plastic also referred to as PE300, PE500 and PE1000. Used in various applications from pipe fittings, wear strips to conveyor systems in food processing environments.

Very good resistance to low and high temperature (up to 260°C), with low flammability and low friction coefficient. Available in a variety of filled grades.

Excellent mechanical strength, dimensional stability, a low coefficient of friction, very good chemical resistance.
